China gambling. Betex signs scratchcard deal
The Betex Group is launching scratchcards in China after announcing a £4.75 million deal with the country’s Hebei Provincial Sports Lottery Management Centre (LMC).
Under terms of the 10-year agreement, Betex will deliver marketing consultancy and provide the investment for the roll out of the scratchcard gambling product into a network of sales points.
Scratch cards is a chance-based gambling product where users purchase a card and scratch a certain portion which will then reveal a prize - either an instant prize or a chance to get to another level of elimination/competition. There are different game structures for scratchcards.
Scratchcard games are expected to be popular due to the Chinese propensity for games of chance and gambling. Casino gambling in China is illegal - for their casino games, mainland Chinese visit the islands of Coloagne and Taipa (Cotai) in the special region of Macau - home of Las Vegas style hotel casinos - Macau is now dubbed as the Las Vegas of Asia with thousands of baccarat rooms for each blackjack game table.
